The Rapaura Springs 2018 Verdelho shows complex aromas of kaffir limes and stone fruit with lovely creamy oak development and a slight gun flint reduction. The wine is textural with an alluring rich and creamy entrance with lovely peach, nectarine and citrus fruit purity. Well poised and very drinkable.

Our Springs Vineyard, is located in the Rapaura sub-region of Marlborough and is surrounded by crystal clear spring-fed waters. The fresh water springs, fed by underground aquifers, cools the roots of our vines to extend ripening and intensify flavours. The Springs Vineyard doesn’t require irrigation helping us save on water during the dry summer months.
Viticulture & Winemaking
The 2018 growing season was not without some challenges. December enjoyed perfect flowering conditions, January was one of the warmest on record, February delivered some rain and March was characterised by extended dry periods and high sunshine hours. Picking in the cool of the morning, fruit was hand selected and harvested. Crates were hand loaded into presses and gently pressed to extract minimal phenolics. The juice was homogenised and pumped directly into a selection of 2nd, 3rd and older oak barrels. Fermented on solids using a selection of cultured yeast. Post ferment barrels were topped and stirred regularly until being pulled out for blending and bottling early in the New Year.
