The Vineyard
The Bouldevines Vineyard is located at the entrance to the Omaka Valley within the Southern Valleys sub-region. The soil is stony, alluvial and free-draining. This sub-region is inland and temperatures are cooler than coastal sub-regions, which allows the grapes to achieve optimum ripeness and expressive fruit flavour, while retaining vibrant acidity.

Winemaking Notes
The 2019 Marlborough growing season had a slow start with below average temperatures and higher rainfall resulting in cooler ground temperatures. Extended hot and dry weather resulted in advanced ripening and an earlier than average start to harvest. The fruit was hand-picked in the cool of the morning, then taken straight to the winery and whole-bunch pressed. After pressing, the juice was sent to barrel, including a selection of older and new oak barrels (47% new). Here the wine completed wild fermentation, before aging for 10 months.
Cellaring Recommendation
This wine is immediately enjoyable but will continue to drink well for the next five years.
