VINTAGE REPORT & WINEMAKING
The growing season in Blind River began with cool weather that brought a significant frost. As summer arrived, the weather improved bringing warm, consistently dry and windy conditions. The lighter crop meant the vines were not stressed, despite dry conditions, and there was no risk of disease. Cooler evenings before harvest helped to preserve acidity. Fruit was harvested at full ripeness. After gently pressing the grapes, juice was fermented in stainless steel with selected yeast strains to retain the flavours unique to this sub-region. Some batches of juice were fermented warmer to build plate weight. The cooler fermentations retained the aromatics and freshness. The best batches were tasted and blended, before being kept on lees for three months, prior to bottling.
